The Sparrow and The Fly

A small sparrow sood on a branch,
poised to strike,
it wore its favorite blue hat,
oh, that rascally tyke.

Waiting for the chance to drop,
like a stone from the sky.
Nothing could spoil its alertness,
no, not even that pesky fly.

'Hello' the fly said,
'and good day indeed,
I was wondering if you would be willing,
to help a stranger in need'.

'But I know you,' the sparrow commented,
'for we've already met,
therefore we are no strangers,
and in that I am correct.'

'Ah, yes of course,' the fly replied,
'well could you help a friend,
just for the once,
so my needfulness can come to an end?'

'If looking to end your necessities you are,'
the sparrow chirped as the fly he gobbled,
'then I've just done you a favor.'
He cleared his throat after the insect he swallowed.
